Review: This is a pretty simple, straightforward story - some time freezing ideas and concepts aside - of the two guys on the cover going up against some Asgardian trolls with a special crystal and a grudge. Spider-Man actually ends up in the fight coincidentally, but it’s an action packed issue that moves pretty well.

Sadly, Thor still has his classic stilted speech, but it’s used for comedy, Spidey himself makes fun of it, and it’s used to enhance the joke of Thor revealing his favorite t.v. program - in his words, ”Robert -- the sponge with the straight trousers!” (Spongebob Squarepants, in other words. And what kid can’t identify with that?) In general, this one seems much more entertaining - and far less preachy - than the last issue of Marvel Age Spider-Man Team Up I read, and I hope they keep it up.

The art by Lim and Koblish is also an improvement. It’s not the Americanized manga that these titles usually feature, but a more straightforward, classic style, and it’s very attractive and easy on the eyes. I wish they could do the art on this book all the time, it’s that good. Digital Rainbow does an interesting job on the colors, giving the characters rich colors while going for paler colors on the backgrounds in several pages of the issue. It doesn’t quite make the characters pop off the page, but it does keep them the main focus of your attention.

As long as kids don’t mind Thor’s unusual way of speaking, they should eat this one up, especially if they’re a fan of action. (And if this title knows what’s good for it, they’ll keep Lim and Koblish.)
