Could someone put these into order for me?
I was looking at one in the library today but didn't go for it as I'm never sure if they need to be read in order or not.

The two biggies should be read in order. Batman: The Long Halloween was a big ol' murder mystery. Batman: Dark Victory was the sequel to TLH, so you probably wanna read those in order.
The only other Loeb/Sale Batman book I know of is "Haunted Knight," which is a collection of the annual Halloween Specials they did for a few years before "The Long Halloween." Those are all self-contained stories and can be read at any time.

I have now read 'The Long Halloween,' and I thought it was really good actually and its one that gets better in your mind after you have read it. Am I the only person that thinks like that about some things? Anyway I picked up 'Dark Victory' Today and I am quite exicted about starting it. Does anyone want to say what they think about these two works and then recommend some more modern Batman graphic novels. I asked my library to get Volume 1 of 'Hush' today as they have 26 copies of vol. 2 but none of volume one. So any recommendations would be welcome.

I've read Year One and enjoyed it. I tried DKR and didn't get on with it. I had not been reading comics for long and I think the old school art really put me off. Is Arkham Asylum really good, does it have that old school art as well?

What I mean by that is that the art from stuff that I have read from the 80s amd early 90s like Watchmen, early Sandman and DKR is very different from all the art I have seen from the last 10 years or so. Does that mmake any sense to you. I cant describe quite how its different.

How come everybody doesn't like DKR? Nobody else was mentally strained after reading it?
Anyway, really good Batman books are hard to find, especially since we've hit the age of these "crossover mega events". Nobody seems to capture the same magic. Hush was great, but apart from that, Batman has been less than stellar. It isn't a bad book AT ALL, its just that once you've read DKR and Year One and anything by Jeph, anything else is kind of a come down. I hope Arkham is good, its the only "great" Bat-book I haven't read yet.
Okay, so good books are hard to find, but seriously- look for back issues of Detective Comics by Greg Rucka from 2001. Its a great title, I couldn't believe how good it was.
But seriously.....Tim and Jephs stuff rocked. They can craft a damn good story, give us some great women and most importantly, capture the true essence of Batman.
