1. Would Superman have been able to survive the nuke if he had gone instead of Cap Marvel? He did survive the aftermath unlike the rest of em excluding those protected by the Lanterns.
2. What exactly are Magog's powers? Is he close to Supes powerwise?
3. Who came up wiht the black insignia?

I'm pretty sure he could, though he'd likely be drained -- as you already noted, he did survive the aftermath.

Well, I'd gander that it was either Mark Waid or Alex Ross. Storywise though, I believe it was Superman himself.

The black insignia, I believe, was Ross' invention. The "S" symbol has been modified slightly several times since Superman was created in 1938. Ross said he wanted to show that would continue into the future.

Well there you go. I was leaning toward Ross myself, he had a bigger stake in Kingdom Come overall and certainly as far as artistic details go.

The nuke he could have yes. He has survived them before KC was written.

If I may chime in -- KC Supes, under most circumstances, could survive the nuke, but at that point he HAD been weakened by Cap's lightning. It make have been enough to take him if he had been holding onto the bomb like Captain Marvel was.

True, but he would have had to be weakened below levels from a few years ago, before his power ups. I don't believe he was.

if thats the case, he should have stopped the nuke instead of marvel, right?

He could have, was more of a plot device I think.

Theoretically, he could have, it from a story standpoint it wouldn't have worked. Marvel needed to do it to find redemption for a life lost in the service of Lex Luthor. Superman had other work to do.

The black coloring I believe was actually used way back when, and was reintroduced by Waid and Ross
