I've heard tell of an All-Star Batman (title? mini-series? I'm not sure), & it's been compared to the Ultimate line at Marvel.

What's so different about this? Just a re-purposed marketing plan? Or is the difference between these lines (like the difference between All-Star Batman & other regular Bat-titles, or the difference between Marvel's Ultimate line & their regular titles) noticably different on a storyline level?

Now that there's two JLA titles (regular & Classified) & like a kajillion-and-one Bat titles, I'm having trouble affording my DCU bill every month! What's next? A different Robin title for each person to have ever held the mantle of Robin? Oy veh!

Well, that just means Jason, Steph and (if you wanna get nitpicky) Carrie need titles. :D

DC is vehemently denying that All-Star equates to "Ultimate." Basically, it means the top talent doing stories that aren't encumbered by current continuity. In the case of All-Star Batman and Robin, it's Frank Miller and Jim Lee telling stories of Bruce with Dick Grayson as Robin. The only other book announced so far is All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly.

Yeah, I guess dead Robin titles may not sell (although the macabre nature of a fan base calling a hotline to vote Robin dead... makes me think fans might not mind a Zombie Robin book!).

Thanks for the All-Star Info. Sounds fun to me!

Which, strangley enough, is exactly how Marvel described Ultimate back when it started up.
