I guess the old thread about Jim Lee's run on Superman is gone now, so here's a new general discussion thread, which can also continue after Az/Lee leave the title.
Superman #214, the second last issue of the arc, has now been delayed from February 23rd to March 9th. :(

Ooh! Two more days...!
:D
Whether or not it -works- well or not, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing if my suspicions are right, based on 213... ;) (watch that not get picked up til 215, now that I'm posting about it...)

It's that time again... shipping delay time! Superman #215 has been pushed back from March 23rd to April 13th, and the Diamond listing for this week doesn't have Superman #214... I wonder when it was delayed, and how i missed it, and when's it coming out... :p

ack...
Far as I've been able to dig up, 214's most recent 'change' was
Superman #214 02/23/05 - 03/09/05
Doesn't look like that's been changed.
And I'm pretty sure Diamond updates around 6pm or so; so if it's not on the list posted then, THEN we can worry. ;)
I could be wrong...

Heheheh... it's weird though, usually Diamond is accurate the week before- but you're right, the more concrete shipping list is updated at 5pm for this week and the coming week.

I've gotten to where--with all the various delays and whatnot--I actually have to take a checklist to the store with me, just to make sure I actually GET the stuff I'm intending to. I've lost track of the number of times I've driven to mentor-on-the-lake, bought comics, and gotten back to Kent, only to find that I actually missed/forgot a key issue I was looking forward to.
But yeah, I've just gotten in the habit of checking the list monday evenings after 6 (got bored a couple times and pounced shortly after 5, finding no update).
And unless I hear otherwise from someone specifying something, I treat the monday evening list as gospel on what's comin' out that week...

I rely on Newsarama (www.newsarama.com) for shipping updates and delays, and Diamond (www.diamondcomics.com) for the weekly shipping list. Great accurate sources.
I don't know if I'm bummed or indifferent about the delay of Superman... I'm pretty sure I'm off the title once Az finishes his run... I forget who the new creative team is that's coming on... who is it again?

Superman wasn't on my list for the week either, although it was ordered. As for the new team, it can't be much worse then this.

Diamond's updated list for March 9th now has Superman #214 on it after all.

hmm...
Actually, probably shouldn't comment here, really. I'll have the comments in the dual review.
Look on the bright side, though...almost time for the 3-parter with Captain Marvel/Shazam... ;)

This last issue kinda made things make sense, but at the same time, not. "Am I the only one that notices this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!"

Yeah, you're not alone. I have no clue what the hell is going on right now.

Okay, as tepid as this storyline has been, at least the art has been cool. Jim Lee just posted the two variant covers (ugh) for the last issue, which combine into one larger image. Looks like future wallpaper to me. ;)

Now...THAT should be a POSTER. And/or a wraparound cover for a SINGLE VOLUME TPB. (like that'll happen...) :sigh:
I also think that it'd be cool if someone at DC (or Marvel, or WHOEVER) would remember what was done a few times in the 90s when there were two covers...
ALL copies of the issue would be double-covered: half would ship with Cover # 2 on top, and half with Cover # 1 on top. But whoever bought a single copy of the issue got both covers (and hypothetically, if they got one with the cover they liked buried underneath, just rip the top one off, pin it to the wall, and have a poster, and a comic now with the cover you like!).
And/or binding a pull-out poster in the middle, featuring the cover image or alternate relevant artwork (rather than a variant COVER).
Ah well.
Occasionally I can be suckered...
Somehow, I get the feeling that UNLESS there's a poster, I'll get suckered into getting both of these.
But that remains to be seen...choices like those are made at the store more often than not.... ;)

With art like that, we don't even need a story, not that there is one now, but I digress. Just give us Lee's art with no words and it'll be better and far less confusing.

Blake or Goku (or anyone else with knowledge on this)...
Are you familiar with a mini "The World of Krypton"? (1987-88ish)?
Just happened across issue synopses for it (4 issues), but I don't think I'd ever heard of this before: seems to be about giving background story/detail to Byrne's vision of Krypton.
Looks like I've got even more hunting to do on my post-crisis Superman collection...

Ok, I've been hoping against hope, pleading and begging that Azz would come through for us and turn this confusing story into something great. I finally read #214, after having read many poor reactions to it. So I went in expecting the usual from this arc. Beautiful art and a story that hurt my brain. I am happy to say, that for me, Azz has answered my wishes. This issue rocked. I finally know what has been going on (sure there are plenty of questions still) and barring any problems with next issue I'd say Azz has turned this into a respectable and enjoyable arc, add Lee's art and it becomes a real good one.

It was actually one of three four-issue minis they did about the world of the Post-Crisis Superman. The other two were "World of Smallville" and "World of Metropolis." All of them, I believe, were written by Byrne.

yeah. Heh...that's what I get for runnin' over here before I finish reading an article.... :shame:
But yeah...more stuff I gotta track down, now.
Too bad they don't have a TPB of 'em. "World of Superman" or something... :D
