What do the different colored Kryptonites do? I know Pre-Crisis there where six or seven colors and after the events with Supergirl it looks like they are back.

There is
Green K - the classic and one everyone knows.
Red K - Unlike Smallville in the comics it would have a unknown mutagenic property ever time it appeared. It could be as varied as deaging or adding a sixth finger
Gold K - Would strip a Kryptonian of all his powers permanently
Blue K- Kryptonite that is harmless to Superman but has the same effect of Green K to Bizarro, created from shooting a Green K with the Bizarro ray
White K - Kills any kind of plant life
Jewel K - Can be used to make explosives things explode by thought of a kryptonian
X K - Gives super powers to normal creatures
K plus - a more powerful form of Green K
anti K - kills unsuperpowered kryptonians

I will admit I cheated, I used this site: http://superman.ws/articles/space-colors/?part=1

It hadn't even occured to me that the kryptonite from supergirls landing was different colors, I just figured it was your typical green k.

Is it just speculation that its various types or has it already been mentioned somewhere and I missed it?

The various colors of Kryptonite existed pre-Crisis and had the various effects Bugsy mentioned there. After the 1986 reboot, they went back down to just one kind of Kryptonite -- Green K -- and although Mr. Mxyzptlk magicked up a chunk of "red Kryptonite" that took away Superman's powers ("Krisis of the Krimson Kryptonite," Circa Superman Vol. 2 #49-50), the multiple colors haven't come back. But then, you never know what DC has in store these days.

Batman designed some Red K himself. So I know that stuff is real.
If you read the issue of Batman/Superman where Kara's ship crashes you will see many different colored rocks on the ground.
In Batamn Red Hood stole the Kryptonite recovered from the crash site from Black Mask. I believe that when he opened the box there were different colored rocks inside.

Batman made a SYNTHETIC version of Red K, in the "Tower of Babel" arc of JLA.

Real Red K is a lot more rare, though when Bats was examining Supergirl's ship, there were green, red, and what looked to be purple samples of Kryptonite laying around... so, I dunno.

Also, the Red Hood's box of K... that was just from Supergirl's ship. The asteroid was the size of Brazil, so when it detonated I would think it left a lot of Kryptonite fragments floating around somewhere.

There were a lot of fragments, but Batman had the JLA and their associates round 'em all up. Read Superman/Batman #8. ;)

In DC Countdown they said that the hundred fragments of Kryptonite, which I'm guessing is them referring to the box Red Hood got hold of, which came from Supergirl's landing.

Plus, they couldn't have possibly rounded up ALL of the K. C'mon, then they'd destroy it and where would Supes be? Without his only weakness, that's where.

Batman was coordinating the entire League to round it all up -- Superman was holed up on the Watchtower until then. I'm fairly confidant that they'd get all of it.

As for leaving him without a weakness -- until the meteor shower, there were only two pieces of Kryptonite on Earth -- Batmans' ring and Metallo's heart.

Then how do you explain the 100 missing pieces that have fallen into the wrong hands?
Or the Red Hood's box, if they're not the same thing?

Synthesized K. It's been made before. Also, there was one piece of K missing, Kryptonite X which gave Superman a massive power boost.

In DC Countdown they SAID some real K was out there somewhere from Supergirl's landing.

I swear I'm not going crazy...

Well, you've been crazy. :P There probably are few pieces left out there, I don't buy the 100lbs left.

I don't think Bryan's wrong.

In Countdown:

BB: Over a HUNDRED POUNDS of KRYPTONITE from Supergirl's arrival was inside. Kord was subcontracted along with S.T.A.R. Labs to collect and dispose of it.
GL: One hundred pounds...

And a few pages later-

Calculator: ...not sure WHO raided it, but this means our Kryptonite will need to come from elsewhere. I've contacted Doctor 104 and Shimmer, though I doubt they'll be able to duplicate the exact radiation frequency.

Sounds like it was real Green K, but now they have to resort to possibly using synthetic Green K.

I'm having some trouble putting all the pieces together though- Calculator/Luthor and VU wanted the Green K. Black Mask's men swiped it first, and then Red Hood grabbed it off of Black Mask. How did Black Mask know it was in there in the first place? And is Black Mask involved with Checkmate, because it was Black Mask's men stealing the Green K which alerted Blue Beetle to the warehouse, where he was then attacked by the Madmen.

I think its more likely black mask is involved in the society of supervillans than checkmate. The tracking device that booster found might have been placed there before the madmen attack and he just never noticed it.

I don't see the confusion here. Red Hood stole 100 pounds of Kryptonite from Black Mask, who stole it from Kord, who obviously collected it while Batman was having the JLA (actives and reserves) scoop up all the Kryptonite that fell to Earth. Situation resolved.

Didio has stated ANOTHER kryptonite color will be revealed soon in Superman/Batman with apparent mystical elements to it. Seriously, not a joke.

My money's on plaid K. Or neon.

I'm betting on polkastriped kryptonite which will turn Superman into either a female version of Krypto, or a firehydrant.
Superpowered firehydrant, that is.
