I would like to see DC do The End comics like Marvel has done with Wolverine and the X-men finding out how Superman, Batman and other DC super-heroes meet their demise.

I really don't think its needed. I haven't liked the marvel series that much and I think a dc one would probably be worse. This isn't the marvel universe, apocalyptic futures just aren't as likely.

Plus, there will never ever be "the end", "future", etc. type storylines that are as good as dark knight returns and kingdom come so theres no point in trying.

I wouldn't rule out apocalyptic futures for DC. Go read Kingdom Come. But I feel "The End" stories are dumb unless they can stand well as stories rather than "The End"s, and don't draw from material in current storyarcs (yes, Chris Claremont, I'm looking at you).

Done the right way with the right writers, it could be great. I would also like to see more elseworlds in the DCU.

Well you cant really do a superman the end comic, seeing as he is probally gonna live until the end of time.

"The End" really doesnt suit DC too much I mean most of there hero's have people training under them to take carry on the legacy after they retire or Die. So could you really have a end to them if people are still carrying on their namesake?

DC has already done the three greatest "The End" comics of all time: Kingdom Come, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow.

And some of the characters, like Superman, are effectively immortal.

Ya beat me to it.

Three essential volumes (to ME, at least) :D

I forget for sure where it was, but I want to say it was either somewhere with that document of 'Twilight of the Heroes' or whatever (attributed to Alan Moore?) or an introduction to one of the versions of the DK TPBs where it's commented on that characters pretty much NEED some sort of end; that with legendary figures, traditionally there's a beginning (origin-story), middle (career) and an eventual end; having the story in its entirety (at least such high points) is what's helped them last.

And yeah, even nearly 20 years later, I think Dark Knight still holds up, despite on-going continuity (overall, at least) for one.

But I'm rambling. ;)

none of the ends have impressed me except the hulk one which really set the bar and as stated dc has already done some very good end stories

I agree, Hulk the end is the best one they made. All the others have been so-so since then. :hulk:

I'm with the Hulk: The End being the only good one out of the marvel crop.

Besides I think as of lately DC is heading towards the Kingdom Come, What Ever Happened To the Man of Tomorrow? and Dark Knight Returns in their regular universe.

I thought Punisher - The End was exceptionally good.

I'm really not into all the end stories that Marvel does because from what I have seen, most are not well done and not well recieved. I have read Hulk the end and that was good and yes Punisher: The End was exceptionally good.

I enjoyed Marvel Universe - The End. Of course, if I recall/interpreted correctly, that ended up being a present-day in-continuity story that led into the 12-issue Thanos series?

When I bought the TPB, it's packaged as Thanos vol. 3, even.... ;) (Now, If I could just find the "Thanos: vol. 1..." edition of Infinity Gauntlet.....)

God, I hated "Marvel Universe: The End." Hated. More than broccoli.
