DC's Maximums

If anybody doesn't know who the Maximums are it's DC's answer to the Ultimates or the Avengers (Kind of like Supreme Power is Marvel's answer to the JLA). Grant Morrison created them in a JLA issue ages ago. They then appeared in JLA: Classified. Now I see that they are going to appear in Jeph Loeb's final Superman/Batman arc.

My big problem is I've atleast read the JLA: Classified and I'm pretty sure I have the trade somewhere with them in JLA...yet still to this day I have a hard time figuring out who's whos counterpart.

So call me lazy cause I don't or can't figure out which Maximum matches up to which Ultimate or Avenger but can anybody?

Do you mean the ultra marines? They were the only new group created during morrisons run of the jla, and were in the first classified story arc.

The storyline was done a couple of years before the ultimates and new avengers, so you can hardly say there a rip off. They have some...similarities to certain marvel characters. Probably the fantastic four is the closest. They were a screwed up military experiment by general eiling to take out the justice league becuase he saw them as a threat to national security.

The Maximums were'nt in JLA Classified, it was the Ultra Marines. Who the Maximums are will have to be seen.

Yeah I realized I F'd up when I got home last night, my bad. I got them mixed up because of the newsarama interview with Jeph Loeb and I had remembered the Ultra Marines were a rip off of the Avengers and Jeph's making the Maximums which is also a rip off.

I forgot their names but I'm trying to match them up.

Soldier is Captain America
Viking is Thor
The big guy is Giant man.
A version of Wasp.
A version of Beast.
A version of Iron Man.
And a version of Hawkeye who appears to be dead also.

To hear Loeb tell it, this is a little payoff for Marvel ripping off the Justice League for years with Squadron Supreme.
