View Full Version : Inkwell website updates

Bob Almond
May 27th 2005, 08:50 PM
It's been a while but I've actually had time today and tomorrow to catch up a bit at my site. Today I updated info on my new News/previews page and added another page of news to the archive section. Also, I finally updated the Photos page with 4 appearances from last December and the recent Pittsburgh Con in April. I don't plan on any more appearances in the near future anyhow with my upcoming work schedule...

By tomorrow I will load all the new commission entries to the gallery2e page and the new gallery2f page and make note of it here. And I added 2 new images already to the previous entry 'convention sketches' .

No, not GREEN LANTERN, just Green Lantern as a character. Thanks for the kind words. I hope to add more to this gallery soon.

But, outside of commissions, as I mentioned in my NEWS/PREVIEWS page, what I'm really looking forward to working on is Vampirella with Mike Lilly, the NIGHTWING penciler and originally intended artist for CAPTAIN GRAVITY & THE POWER OF THE VRIL. Once I'm allowed to post more info & preview images I will.

Gah! The links page hurts my eyes :) Sorry, just the black letters on the colorful backround is tough to read... thought I would give feedback!

Cool stuff though - I shall have to read through it.

Bob Almond
June 9th 2005, 06:02 PM
Sorry to blind you, Craig. I admit that that background doesn't make it easy.....but I was partial to that cover montage that we used for the cover of BP # 36, the 35th anniversary issue and I wanted to use it somewhere (besides an image in the Features section).

Anyone else have any feedback regarding the LINKS page background? Maybe it's time for a change....

Thanks! And feel free to LMK about anything else that you see or read, Craig.

Yeah - I see what you are saying. But it is always easier to read words on solid backgrounds :)

Maybe a cover gallery on your site? I don't know what kind of space you have....

Ill let you know what I think after I finish looking at it all!

It is interesting to see the comparision between finished an unfinished. Makes you appreciate the work that much more...

Hi Craig,
Well, I don't normally blow up pencils images but I adjusted it here on this entry at your request. Sadly since the pencil scans are only 72 dpi the images are smaller than the inked versions scanned at higher resolutions, especially Rags'. Maybe if I get a chance later I can try rescanning....

Andrea, a question: I noticed some time back that while I was trying to add an attachment the site told me that I was exceeding my quota and files needed to be deleted. I deleted a LOT of old attachments but it still doesn't let me upload any. I hadn't had this problem at another similar forum. Any thoughts? Otherwise I'll do like I have been and simply keep posting links.

Another question: after posts why can't I now write the name of my site link ("The Bob Almond Inkwell") and then the URL? I used to get 2 different windows allowing me to do so but now I just get the URL one. Curious....

Thanks!
Another question: after posts why can't I now write the name of my site link ("The Bob Almond Inkwell") and then the URL? I used to get 2 different windows allowing me to do so but now I just get the URL one. Curious....

Something got changed with the latest update to make it only one window. Now the first window that pops up is the URL one, and after you submit that one, you get something that looks like this in your message box - http://www.almondink.com, where the link inside the URL brackets is highlighted. From there you are supposed to just type the name of the website while it is still highlilghted. Which, of course, will give you this - Bob Almond (http://www.almondink.com).

I think the old way is better too - I think they were trying to make it a little leaner this way though. Hopefully that answers your question. I will get back to you on the file attachments soon...

Hey gang,
I was planning on more website updates this week but I didn't get to it before the QUASAR pages arrived. I won't be able to post 2 new entries in the gallery2 section...one was for the 2 sketchbook sketches and the commission I did at the Pittsburgh Comicon but the other was an image of SHIELD agent Val (Countessa Valentina Allegro de Fontaine)...this one I can show you here. It was a character design for the UNION JACK series by Mike Perkins and he penciled & inked the full-figure of her and pencilled the head shot in the top right corner. Upon suggestion of the client, I rendered in the rest of the Steranko-esque image and inked the head shot.

It's taken me a while to get around to them but here they are after a full day or effort!
Hopefully I'll have new pics to add soon after this weekends Boston convention.

In the near-future I'll be adding a 2nd page for my credits list, I'll need to split the Art4sale
page in two so that one can focus on art, commissions & prints and the 'store' can focus on
sketchbooks, trades, etc.
