Who/What is Ruin?

I just picked up the latest issue of Adventures for the Omac tie-in and it was talking about Pete Ross being Ruin. Being new to the recent history of Superman... I'm curious about who/what Ruin is and what he did.

Ruin has only been around for the last year or so, he first appeared controlling Replikon and forcing him to kill some police before Superman put a stop to this, he then created the brother & sister duo parasites from two random innocents. He was finally defeated in the last issue and it was revealed to be Pete Ross.

We're still not really sure who/what Ruin is. Pete Ross was unmasked as Ruin, but that doesn't mean he is.

Indeed. In fact, I would consider it a huge disgrace if there didn't turn out to be more to the story.

I got the part about Ross being Ruin... but wasn't sure about the rest (or what the new parasite twins played in it) but that helps a little. Thank you!

They were created by Ruin and absorbed Superman's powers and memories for a while, Superman beat them though in the end.
