I've recently heard that Superman is "theoretically" resistant to the Omega Effect due to him being a "Nexus Being"... can anyone inform me whether there is any truth to this?

100% false. He can and would have been killed by it.

Darkseid may not have set the attack high enough to do any damage. At it's full potential it nearly killed a being that was an universe unto himself.

A nexus being??? When did this revelations occur? I know he's been doing crazy feats lately but if he become resistant to OE that's generally overpowering him and classifies him as a walking plot device.

There's no such thing. He's not resistant to it and can be killed by it. That one time he "resisted" it Darkseid may not have dialed it up enough to do the trick. Gotta remember that Superman is constantly gaining power and Darkseid may not have known just how powerful Superman had become.

superman is constantly gaining power?
do you mean that specific fight he was next to the sun".... or is his character openly gaining power somehow

Just by being under a yellow sun, he gains more power. He just needs to be outside during the day and he'll get stronger.

The only time Superman was called a nexus being when he was referred to an alien planet as such and it was entirely metaphoric.

"All things come from Superman!" - Infinite Crisis.

As for Superman being unaffected by the Omega Effect recently:

Read;

Countdown #3 page 5 - Superman is fired on by Darkseid, again using the Omega effect. Supes replies whilst taking it full on and moving towards DS, "If that's the best you've got Darkseid, you might as well give up now!" and then continues to close the distance striking DS as he comes through the beam. Darkseid then fires the OE again on page 12 - after Supes has been mauling him. Supes gets ready for it again the beam arcs round big blue and strikes Jimmy (I wear dresses) Olsen. DS says to Supes as he launches the beam, "Time to put your interference to an end". Emphasis on end, however, he doesn't even bother trying to kill Clark with the OE which had not worked a few pages earlier, instead he attacks Olsen. He then strikes Supes full on with the OE from behind on the following page, knocking Supes down; but not killing him. Jimmy then takes over, note, Supes is up and about in the next issue.

NB. This is all pointless though in the post Countdown retcon of the New Gods. Who knows what DS can do now! I'll warrant though in DC all things still come from Supes... As it was then, ever shall it be, forever and ever....
Amen!
