So this title has wrapped up its prestige run... and I'm curious what others thought. Personally, I felt it was a mess. The editing was jumpy and left me scratching my head between pages and panels as we'd shunt into different locations or trains of thought. I just couldn't figure out what Jones was getting at. Choppy would be the best way I could describe this book.

When it got good, it was great. Scenes like Crane with the professor or dealing with his tortured youth, and similiar allusions to Batman's path.

The dialogue seemed, to mee, out of character (especially the portrayal of Dick and Bruce) and simply didn't work.

I rather enjoyed Scarecrow year one. I didn't really know about Crane's origin so it was a good read for me. I do agree though about the dialogue between Batman and Robin it did seem alittle different at times but I don't think it was totally out of character, just different, it was a young Batman. The Scarecrow is a true psychotic man, what he was doing to his father and his professor were very good scenes in portraying what Crane has become.
