I have been a huge fan of Batman since the early 80's. The first series I ever read was the Death in the Family series. The darkness of that series has always set the tone for me when reading about the dark knight.

I was looking for some artwork on the series the other day, for an art project, and came across another fan of Batman. I read his take on the Death in the Family series. Oddly, I found his comic take on the series funny. Which made me start to think. Have I been reading the series in the wrong light?

So I started looking for other opinions from other fans, I have read these boards for a while just never felt the need to post and since I didnt see any topic like this I decided to ask the question.

Dark or Funny?

I don't think you've been reading the story in the wrong light. It was meant to be a tragic storyline. But that, of course, doesn't mean that you can't have fun with it or the quirks of resurrecting dead characters in comics. I think it can be enjoyed it in both lights.

Oh, and welcome. :)
