...Grant Morrison.

Taking over after James Robinson's story.

Artist has not been announced yet.

The first issue will be entitled "Batman and Son" and feature Talia, daughter of Ra's Al Ghul.

Discuss. :D

And he says he's already plotted his first 15 issues.

Morrison and Dini on the two core Bat-books. AWESOME.

I think I am about to cry, two men who understand the character, two men creative enough to create stories, two men who will make Batman GREAT again. Tears, tears :bawl:, now I am in love, OYL I come towards you with arms wide open.

SPECTACULAR.

I can't wait to see who the artist is.

Is there a date yet on his first issue?

Blake Petit

Hmm... Robinson's arc is going to be eight issue (four each in Batman and Detective), so I would imagine Morrison will start with the July release issue. But don't quote me on that, I'm not sure if they're going to go with the usual schedule for Robinson.

As for the artist -- no confirmation, but rumor has it that it'll be one of the Kubert brothers, both of whom are now exclusive to DC...

I know. :D

Now if only they'll announce the new Action Comics writer and it's equally as mind-blowing...

I have never been interested in reading Batman,,,but this changes everything. Now if we can also just get him back on an X-book. Maybe Astonishing after Whedon :)
Anyways, I WILL be reading Batman when he takes over.

How about Willingham or Brubaker on Action Comics?

Well, I thought I might start looking at more Marvel titles. HA! DC you have made my decision easy.

Ok, now I'm confused, does it mean you are excited about it? or completely turned off because of it?

Brubaker is Marvel exclusive right now, so that's impossible. Willingham? I'd love to see it.

And I was actually considering dropping this title....not now after these news

I'd rather Willingham stay on Fables and take on DCU books where he won't be heavily edited like Shadowpact. I think his run on Robin suffered from the mandates he was given and I think that'd only be worse if he were on a Superman book.

He won't be leaving Fables -- that's his baby. But I loved his Robin run -- I thought it was a great new angle to take on the character.

I know he's not leaving Fables...I just meant stay in that type of world...Me, I hated his run on Robin...too many inconsistencies with it and with how it fit in Batman continuity and let's not mention the atrocity that was War Games...

I thought War Games was FANTASTIC -- but we'll have to agree to disagree. :p

At any rate, still no announcement about the artist. Or the new Action team, darn 'em.

Wow. Morrison on Batman. I never would have guessed.

Damn, that's another fricken book for me to buy.

Oh geez...if the worst thing about War Games was the fact that Steph's physical state from when she escaped Black Mask to the issue where she died was so inconsistent that it forced DC to churn out the even more horrid War Crimes, then that's enough to damn the whole arc in my eyes...

I mean if I try, if I really try and put on my rose colored glasses and get in my DC fanboy mode and forget Batman continuity for a moment and believe that they intentionally wrote Batman out of character during the whole arc because they were wanting to set up the Infinite Crisis stuff and take my enjoyment of Steph/Spoiler out and believe for the moment that Batman would put more trust in someone he doesn't know like Tarantula as opposed to keeping Barbara in the loop...*pant pant*..if I do all that, I still can't find much enjoyable in the arc...

sorry...my willing suspension of disbelief can only go so far..
But that's just my opinion...

And honestly, from my perspective, having Morrison on the book following Robinson is an even better "Good Thing"

Wow and here I thought that the title would go into the crapper with Winick leaving (He's the reason why I started picking it up). Now I'm finding myself picking up BOTH Batman titles. Morrison and Dini, unreal.

This should be a good year for Batman.

Where does Morrison get the time to do all these books he is signed on to do? Good news I must say.

This kind of sucks really, I was all pumped up to start reading Dini's Detective Comics. Then Morrison's Batman comes along. There's no way I'm buying both. Maybe I'll switch after every couple of issues or something.
