Joke or not?

Ok I have been following the newsarama web-site all weekend for updates on the DCU wondercon panel (Blake beat me to finding out about Morrison, darn him). However, there has been an ongoing theme/joke in the panel That Dick Greyson is going to die. Waid even mentioned that 52 starts with the funeral of Nightwing. Now he said this jokingly, and the panel said they picked Nightwing to kid about since they had joked about Flash dying for so long. I am wondering if it is not a joke though...what if he really does bite the dust? Everyone has been thinking Bruce is being replaced, but what if it is Nightwing? What is Todd really is taking over, and Dick is out? Now I highly doubt this, but I thought it was fun to wonder about.

Well Given how they always joke about that nonsense, I would not take what they say too seriously. Afterall, they cannot get rid of Dick Grayson as Nightwing. Killing Dick Grayson would be like killing Bruce Wayne. Never going to happen. Not to mention Dick looks to be alive and well in Outsiders. As for his own book, pictures indicate it is Jason Todd in a Nightwing costume I am more inclined to believe that he is in New York to kill Nightwing and is framing him for murders. Afterall, there are 2 Nightwings in that book in OYL.

I'm pretty sure the "other" Nightwing is a female. And the previews have Dick Grayson going to New York. He's not dying.

There will be two nightwings, Jason Todd and Dick Grayson, but Jason will be an anti-hero probably, and then this will create problems for Dick since people will confuse them because of the costume.
Kara will be playing Nightwing or flamebird when she visits Kandor, that does not make her nightwing necessarily.

The Nightwing in Outsiders will definitely be Dick. The editor said that in an interview at Newsarama. The other one is the mystery however...
