Give me a break. Real people have no place in comic books. Especially in this case, cuz if Bruce does actually get Osama it just makes the fact that we can't get him in the real world all the more disheartening.

Superman and Cap may have punched Hitler, but it took millions of dead human beings to bring him down. Its not just propaganda, like he said, its worse, its stupid propaganda. Sheesh, why doesn't Frank draw a cartoon using the image of the Prophet Muhammad for crying out loud.

I would actualy consider that this is his point. I mean, Miller never struck me as a conservative. What's to say he won't use this book as an opportunity to poke fun at our current administration.

But, why?

We have Comedy Central for that.

With rare exceptions propaganda is at best silly, and at worst, an insult to anyone's intelligence. I can safely assume that this effort by Frank Miller will indeed be a 'train wreck'.

I consider "Henry V" to be the exception, as its a rousing good time. But let's face facts, it was English propaganda right to the hilt.

By the way, cv, what right-wing web-blog are you reading there?

I don't read right-wing web-blogs. I get all my information about current events from Fox News. Fair and Balanced.

As far as propaganda goes, I'm not so sure that Henry V is the only exception. There was a Nazi-propaganda flick in the 40s that made Hitler ticked. He tried to prevent the release of it, because it made him look soft.

The thing about propaganda is that it only serves to reaffirm belief. It will NEVER cause anyone the reconsider what they believe. That's why I'm not sure if Miller's idea will work.

Right wing fanatics will eat it up. But left wing fanatics will look at Miller like he's crazy.

*sigh* I was hoping he'd gotten over his impulse to do this story. I guess not.

I'm with Terry, personally. I can't see this working at all, no matter what Miller's intentions are.

As a conservative, I agree w/ you guys. This stuff is just not necessary.

I wonder if this in terms of ridiculousity will surpass Dr. Doom shedding tears.

Has anyone read "An American Batman in London"?

This is a scan from it. (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y294/dougspaulding/breyfogle/terror.jpg)

Perhaps Miller will give us 180 degrees edition.

This is just ridiculous. I have no desire to see this, and I am a bomb-throwing bleading heart liberal (ok I don't throw bombs, but I do love witty satire making fun of the administration). Miller has been beyond disappointing as of late (see AllStar Batman).

What that villain said to Batman was rational, reasonable and totally true...therefore no one will believe it or listen. "We" are always right. "They" are always wrong. Hell, Batman himself could be construed as a being a Terrorist. But that is a debate for another time.

How is this any different from the propaganda used during World War II? We had the JSA and Superman fight Hitler. We had Captain America beat American Justice into Hitler. I honestly think it is about time that someone, albeit Miller grasped that this is something worth doing to recapture those old days where we had to heroes rise up and fight evil like that. With that said, expect the eventual saying of "I'm the ******* Batman" when Osama meets him.

Well, this was before the internet where people could go to chatrooms and express thier disapproval...

When I first saw the CA cover with Hitler & Cap, I raised an eyebrow, due to my knowledge of his Genocidal Acts, I wasn't sure it was all that appropriate.

Because Batman isn't the military or the government. I find that WW2 covers are a little different, really because of the time period and all that. It just seems a little strange, mainly because Osama (supposedly) hasn't been caught yet, but I guess we shouldn't cast judgment until it's read. Just that Miller's been off recently, so he's easy to criticize...

Not to deviate too much, but did anyone else read the Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay? Gives a good insight to why some of those propaganda covers were done the way they were...maybe. It was pretty good speculation though.

:joker: Joking?

Getting all your news from Fox News? The President and CEO is Roger Ailes. He donates thousands to Republicans, helped Rush Limbaugh get his radio show, and helped run Nixon, Reagan, and GW Bush's campaigns. He's hardly after "balance." Despite the catchphrase.

Nothing really to give links to....it's a book by Michael Chabon. My girlfriend (now ex) made me read it due to my love of comics, it's a really good read...

I think a Batman vs. Al Qaeda book would be AWESOME. A throwback to the forties propaganda comics ("Superman says - Slap a Jap!") but a self-conscious one - done by Frank Miller (if anyone can do it...) sounds like a great story to me!

I'll buy multiple copies if I think it will be good because I keep a copy to myself and bring one to work so the guys here can read it and then I send one to iraq to a friend I have over there.
