(This is probably my last post before surgery tomorrow so I may not be able to respond for a few days)

I was just rereading the first couple of issues of All Star Superman and given the timing and all, and I was wondering, maybe its a throw back story to E1 Superman (given how powerful he seems).

Since IC is supposedly closing the doors on any pre Crisis stuff it seems like it (meaning All Star Superman) might be a nice way to say good bye to the Superman many of us grew up with....

It's obviously inspired A LOT by the earth-1 supermans old characteristics. But I don't think it actually IS earth-1 superman. It's Morrisons analgamesh(sp?) of various supermen from stories and media of the past 60 years.

What I don't understand about this series is if it's going to be ongoing? When I first read the description of the all-star books, it seemed like creators and writers were gonna be able to come in, do a story arc or two and then leave, letting the next guy pretty much start from scratch. However, now everbody calls it "DC's ultimate universe" which means to me that writers are expected the follow the adventures of the already established characters. And now with the upcoming release of superman and batman classified, where writers can come in and tell alternate universe or stories from any time period, it makes more sense for all star bats and supes to pretty much end after miller and morrison are done on them.

The All-Star line is essentially to allow creators to establish their own continuity and tell stories with whatever incarnation of the characters they want. I get the feeling that Morrison is essentially doing Superman the way he would have been if the Earth-1/Silver Age Superman was around today.

All Star Superman is the best Superman book out right now, bar none!

it might as well be E1 supes....it sure does look that way to me at least. and yes, it's pretty good to see some "original" superman levels and grant can't do any wrong in my eyes :D

He can in mine... SS: Mr. Miracle was a real stinkeroo.

But All-Star Superman has been quite satisfying thus far.
