View Full Version : HUGE SPOILER FOR SUPERMAN

I went to wikipedia to see what "One Year Later" was all about and I came across something that was very shocking to me. Superman had lost his powers, and Supergirl is the new defender of Metropolis. However, Hal Jordan sees that Clark has been out of it for too long and the world needs a Superman... so he gives Superman a ring with the S logo on it. Is Superman really going to joing the Corps? No more Big Blue and Red?

I am very much so shocked by this whole thing. Change is good in comics, but I sincerely hope this is not permanent!

Well we don't know if he will accept it yet.
I kinda doubt it.
But even if he does, stuff will eventually go back to normal.

I agree with Picard here. Besides, I have a good feeling Clark will soon be Supes again.

Moved this to the proper forum.

And I'm with those who think there's no way this is a permanent thing. ;)

But Blake, the way they're talking about it in the comics, it seems pretty permanent! I mean, DC would NEVER change a character, only to change them back.

Wow, would you look at that... the needle in the sarcasm detector just got stuck in the red. ;)

Yeah...its definetly a temp thing. If supes blue didnt last, GL supes won't last either. plus i remember seeing somewhere on here that Clark would have been Krypton's GL had disaster not struck. This is just to me a "what if" story that actually will be included in continuity. Whatever the case, change is always good IMO. let's hope that good writing ensues.

Maybe they will go with this for a while, at least until the next crisis when they need the Kryptonian wrecking machine back.

Besides If you go by he Birthright origin, what the heck would Krypton need a GL for, they all had superpowers.

Change is good, but not always, IMO. I think Big Blue is someone we have come to love much like Captain America as someone who will always be there, even when I'm gone and my kids are reading comics. He's just gotta absorb the yellow sunlight and shoot heat vision from his eyes. However... the good writing should DEFINITELY CONTINUE. I haven't been this interested in DC for a while.

I found myself cracking open the DC COMICS ENCYCLOPEDIA to get background stories of some of the characters I have no clue of. Jeez, I am actually researching comic characters! That's how interesting this is to me!

.....I'm such a dork.....

Well IMO, superman's run after the Supes Blue era has been pretty dang good....but just like before the Supes Blue era began, it's starting to get stale again....the classic powerset just isnt doing it for me anymore.

Random thought. Supes Blue may not have been good to appease the diehard superman fans....but the character concept was downright brilliant. I hear that they are supposedly bringing back Azrael...why not Superman Blue as his own character (IE not directly tied to Supes....new name, new identity, the whole shebang). Check the avatar to see who i am devoted to...lol

I thought that the only reason they had superpowers was because of our sun, isn't that how the story goes? I must have missed something

In the Byrne reboot Krytponian society was a cold sterile place which had long since isolated itself from the rest of the universe seemingly before the tens to hundreds of thousands of years of genetic engineering that turned them in solar powered juggernauts. In Birthright, Kryptonians were active outside their own solar system with powers and star ships for a period. This is one of the conflicts between the two origins that IC is supposed to resolve.

I think it would be cool if they kept Supes as a "Super Green Lantern", only cause of the symbol and name though and not the powers.
The Blue Superman was cool, but what threw me off the whole thing was the very first image of Supes Blue. He was standing so gay like......
