Just like the title says, let's discuss the OYL books. Which ones? How about all of them?
What's disappointed you so far? What's excited you thus far?
Make your opinion known!

I do not have the money to get everything (although I am trying my darndest) but I have yet to be disappointed by any I have read. DC has done a commendable job here and I am very excited about it.

I have read almost all of them so far, and I love them so far.
I never read Manhunter before, but I may need to start.

I've read most of 'em and the only one that's kinda disappointed me thus far has been Nightwing. Otherwise, my socks have been knocked all the way across the room.

I've never looked at Manhunter either, but with how good OYL has been I may need to change that.

Manhunter is very good, although I must say, I think it's one of the books that has changed the least OYL.
Although it was damn good in the first place, so that's not a complaint. ;)

To each their own. The OYL is like every other thing in the world, it's for some and it's it not for other people.

I vote "meh, it's alright." Batman/Detective Comics finally has Batman out of being a jerk and being the trusting and dynamic Dark Knight that he is supposed. Superman/Action Comics has Superman finally being on its way to being the top comic book period, which it needs to be given the iconic status of the character. Great start and look forward to more of it, but sadly I am trade-waiting it. Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis is Conan under water with Kurt Busiek writing it. If that is not enough to get you excited well shiver me timbers. Teen Titans was a surprise. It was an actual interesting read. However, the line-up sucks, thus the books sucks.
Outsiders, OYL and they still suck. Nightwing. WTF happened to your Grayson? One of the worse in OYL. The character is completely out of character, no matter how much a year will change someone, they should not be able to act like a wimp when it comes fighting metahumans when they had no problem prior. Manhunter, OYL and it was still the same thing as if nothing really change. Of course that does not mean it is bad because Manhunter was great back then and it is great now. Green Lantern, meh, but I am interested. JSA Classified, see you in 4 months. JSA, friggin awesome. Green Arrow, snore.....

 Yeah, I can't believe any writer could possibly put together a few b-list characters and tell a good story with 'em. I remember this one time Marvel grabbed a bunch of teen heroes that had series cancelled out from under 'em or got booted out of other series and... oh wait, that was New Warriors...

Yeah, but Joe Q hates Speedball thus wherever he goes he gets the short end of the stick. I still like Teen Titans and will read the next few issues in order to see the new status quo for Doom Patrol and who is on Titans East, but that line-up stinks. Not even :superhero: can save the day on that one.

I am at least gonna get a few of each of the OYL titles to see how it all is being done. I am sure I am not going to continue getting all the books.

I liked what they did with Impluse while back.
Teen Titans are proving to be a decent book.

I voted generally good. I have read Batman/Detective and think they are both excellent so far. Green Arrow was good, don't know if I will stick with it once prices rise. Hawkgirl, I thought, was terrible, didn't like the old timey writing of Simonson and the art by Chaykin was alright, but I still think it is ridiculous how he likes to draw Hawkgirl nipping all the time in costume. :bluebeetle:

lemme see what i got so far
aquaman
very intriguing :) it seems old orin is now the dweller and he's preparing the new guy to be the......new version of himself. i'll stick around, by all means i will.
detective
batman
ugh, bleah, is that james robinson writing? are you sure? nah, can't be. robinson wrote one of the best titles ever, starman, and this title is so below his standard. sorry, not for me, nothing to keep my interest.
batman is just a cypher in a cape. i was hoping for a good characterization but....
so harvey is offing gotham's villains? about time someone thought about it! my congrats to the former d.a. for having, him alone, realized that there is no jail, no arkham for some monsters, just 6 feet of dirt. and i won't spend any money to see something that should have been done 60 years ago.
superman
so boy scout lost his powers? i already posted here http://www.comixtreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26092
what the consequences should be for the DCU
is that the kryptonite man? a kryptonite man? oh, right, since the great loeb c**pload kryptonite is as common as big macs in the DCU.
johns is trying to re-build the businessman luthor? i applaud that with the fullest enthusiam. in my opinion the supes book should be about clark as much as about lex. so this is the only reason i'll give it more time
hawkgirl
c'mon dc, you're putting fake names in the credits, that can't be simonson writing, it's impossible:no:
and since when chaykin's art got so bad?
another dropped one
more comments as i get the titles here in the land of late deliveries

Detective Comics - Amazing
Batman - Wow
Superman - Awe inspiring
Action Comics - You can't get better than this
Teen Titans - I like it so far, I'm ok with the line up but I just wish they still had my favorite team member (superboy)
Robin - Looking very forward to were this is going.
Nightwing - I'm hoping this goes good.
Birds of Prey - Liked it but confusing at first
Firestorm - Like it and good cliff hanger ending.
Aquaman - I haven't read Aquaman before but I liked it.
Green Lantern - Interesting story but pacing was a little slow.

Batman OYL - I'm intrigued by the story but the writing is only okay. Thats how it is sometimes. Maybe there should be more books done by 2 people, 1 for plotting and pacing and the other for the actual dialogue. I'm looking forward to what batman has in store for robin though
Aquaman OYL - I can't believe how much i've enjoyed this. It's kind of slow, and yet action packed. The characters are being fleshed out, but theres a lot of subtlety. It seems like this storyline is leading up to something bigger than the dweller being the old aquaman and I can't wait to see what it is.
Superman OYL - Maybe the best of the OYL books. This is the story that needed to be told. Clark Kent is superman, and that side of him gets ignored too much sometimes. He is the man with the powers and a character analysis of him explains how and why he uses them. And in 2 issues theres a new villain, a plot by the metropolis underworld, and quite a bit of action for a story about a reporter.
Teen Titans OYL - I'm a little irked by the line up too (really only wendy and marvin), but I have faith in Geoff Johns, the man still hasn't written a bad team book. In fact the only book that I haven't loved was green lantern, so he still deserves the benefit of the doubt that he can make this work. It's still got tim and cyborg on the team so its not all bad.
Birds of Prey OYL - VERY interesting. I still think canary and shiva switched places b/c shiva convinced canary to undergo some more training after probably getting almost killed or something during the missing year. I can't wait to see where this goes. With savant and creote out of the book it needed some more supporting characters.
Green Lantern OYL - Finally this book is beginning to improve. I'm not over the moon with it yet, but this had some nice moments. I think the big improvement is the inclusion of a supporting cast, and if its army squad mates and commanding officers that's something that hasn't been done before. And the sinestro corps is one bad *** idea.
Nightwing OYL - The first issues i've ever picked up of nightwing although I have read a lot of other stuff the characters been in. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happaned in the missing year to change him that dramatically. People do pull 180 degree changes in their lives sometimes. I would never have guessed i'd be doing what I am now a couple of years ago. And finally we get dick vs jason.
JSA OYL - Umm...it's kind of gone down hill recently although since this is the first sub-par book of the entire series, i'll stick with it and hope for the best. I really don't care about these old villains though and I miss the chemistry and character moments the team had under John's run.
Outsiders OYL - The second issue was a lot better than the first, with nightwing taking a jack bauer or jack bristow uber secret agent guy role, which i'm fine with and is a take on the character that can definatly work if this group remains underground. It's also nice to see the rest of the DC world outside of the U.S.. BoP goes around the world a lot (or at least used to) and it was one of the coolest things about the comic. If they can't anymore because of boundaries then why not have these guys take up the slack.
In other words, the only dc titles i'm not reading right now is hawkgirl, firestorm, catwoman, and manhunter. I'm kind of interested in the firestorm character though after seeing him in IC. His powers are pretty unique too, theres just never been a good starting point. I guess now is probably better than any.

update
batman: don't like, didn't like it before, so no big change, i assume. dark knight as a wussie? not for me. i'll stay and wait for grant
detective: don't like, didn't like it before, so no big change, i assume. dark knight as a wussie? not for me. dropping it after robinson leaves, and a very bad robinson it is, where's the guy that wrote starman?
aquaman, sword of atlantis: too slow and what the hell happened to giuce? i loved his art, not it's so bad it actually hurts the et! dropped it
superman: don't like, didn't like it before, so no big change, i assume. i don't think anyone can me me like supes, even grant's is not on the level, simply lame character.
action comics: don't like, didn't like it before, so no big change, i assume. i don't think anyone can me me like supes, even grant's is not on the level, simply lame character.
teen titans: don't like the membership, i think killing superboy was a cheap ploy but i like the effect his death is having on tim. thank god gar left, so i won't see him wearing the barf material costume. geoff is doing his best to give dignity back to the doom patrol after the byrne rape of the team. but a dp without crazy jane, dorothy, rebis and josh is not even the dp. bad bad brotherhood treatment, thinking about dropping it.
blue beetle: well written, a bit too slow, likable character, glorious costume and i'll continue to buy it to find out more about jaime.
so is this what infinite crisis brought us?
the bad follow up of a useless and bad limited series
the dc universe was so much better before
