lol, i know that i am one of the few...if not only....Blue supporter around here. check the avatar to see where my loyalties are....I really see where the dislike came from back when it hit (i admit that his new powers really didnt fit the Superman name IMO), but come on guys...the character concept was genius.

My question would be would anyone get a little excited if they brought back the supes blue concept on a new character ala Spidey's Richochet and company a couple of years back? lol i jason todd, a guy who was voted to die can get a second chance, why not the Blue? ;)

another question would be do you think he should be considered a part of the superman family if he did show up all of a sudden with heroic intentions and all. like i said before, his powers really don't fit the mold in terms of the superman family, but then again, neither did steel (who i think is the best of the bunch behind supes)

First off, I really liked the blue superman. Especially in JLA, but then again that was with morrison, the master of the crazy idea. But still, he had some pretty huge feats during his time as the electric supes like giving the moon poles, which was just flat out cool.

But I don't think he should be brought back. It was a nice concept and it was cool that DC took advantage of supermans return from death and zero hour to give him some all new powers. But now its in the past where I think it should stay, like the batman suit from knightfall and ben riley from the spidey clone arc. (and I did like both knightfall and the clone arc (well most of it))

I disagree that steel doesn't fit the mold of the hero though. He was an inspired young man who knew he could make a difference. Just because he wasn't alien or a clone didn't make him any less of a hero. Hell, I think it made him more of a hero, that he was fighting superman level threats when he could get killed easily if the suit got damaged enough.

no i wasnt saying that Steel isnt a hero. I was saying that if you look at the Superman family, he's the odd man out (ie no powers). that makes him the most heroic IMO cuz he seriously has more to lose than the other superfolk in any given fight.

the reason i asked about Blue was with Jason Todd (voted to die might i add) came back and i am hearing rumors that azrael is supposedly on the rise. let's all hope that all this talk lead to someone "super" coming back....Connor or Blue would work for me, even though i admit i want Connor back more. his character was just getting heated up....unlike Blue, who i thought was really taken off the books a little too early...

You're right, Superman Blue was decent. But what threw me off of the idea was the very first picture of him as Supes Blue. He was standing in a flaming gayish way that was just wrong...
First thing that came to my mind and alot of other people was "They made Superman gay!"

just so we are clear, I am not talking about bring Supes Blue back at the expense of current superman. What i would suggest is bring him back as his own character, someone who has no particular connections to Clark/Superman....like say Joe Blow from around the corner got stuck by lightning or something while he was sleeping and woke up the next morning with all the powers. weirder things could happen. lol

They tried that with Strange Visitor. She died during OWAW.

:) Sorry buddy. I totally understand why it'd be cool to have a similar character back. I just like my Superman classic :supermansymbol:

It would be an interesting way to bring Connor back but I hope he stays dead. I want dead to be dead and just some time resting...

I don't want him to stay dead, mainly because I like him. HOWEVER, if he does I won't be too peeved either. He went out brilliantly, a true hero couldn't ASK for a better death.

Plus you're right, death should feel more final.

lol i didnt mean to imply connor coming back with Blue's powers...i was saying if i had to choose, i would choose connor. Blue is just a dream for me cuz i know in all likelihood its not gonna happen..but i can still hope and dream

But Connor got snuffed way too earlier, his character was just starting to come in to play too...i got every issue of his series in lock and key as i had been a fan since day one. little known fact (maybe), if he had fully developed he would have been stronger than Supes...

I sincerely doubt he would have become stronger than Superman...

The reason I say him coming back with Superman Blue's powerset is because of the lawsuit. DC no longer owns Superboy and Connor would have to be noticably different to avoid lawsuits.

yeah, while superman and Black Zero (superboy full matured in Superboy's Hypertime comic run) have never actually fought, Black Zero conquered a lot of alternate universes, beating each universe's Doomsday without receiving a scratch or throwing a punch. seriously, his fully matured TK was off the chart. Anything that he touch (or any common surface he shared with a foe like the ground), he could control. Tap dance, stasis, whatever. if you touched the same ground that black zero touched, it's over.

as for the lawsuit, i see your point about him taking blue's powers but it seems that if he does indeed come back, i think this Supernova will be his way back in...which sucks IMO

lawsuit? what do you mean dc doesnt own superboy??

Jiggaman Tiga
April 15th 2006, 01:09 AM
basically, the Siegels (family of the co-creator of Superman) claimed that they have the legal rights to superboy instead of DC. a judge has ruled in the favor of the Siegels this past week or so, so it looks like Superboy's death in IC was DC's way of handling the situation, although it looks like he may be coming back with a different powerset be in order with the lawsuit.

it also pretty much seals the fate of Smallville. its been overdue for a long time (damn you Lana Lang :( ), but the lawsuit all but ensures us that next season has to be the last.

so this means there will never be a superboy in dc ever again? Dc should buy the rights from them.

I believe he would have become at least as strong as supes, and with his telekensis he could definatly have become more versatile. Maybe even developing blocks from psychic attacks while working on his telekenisis.

now that u say that, black zero had some kind of telekinetic force vision on top of heat vision. his heat vision was no where near Superman levels but that force vision looked about on it.

You guys know that Superman just keeps getting more powerful as he absorbs yellow sunlight, eventually becoming KC Superman and then Superman Prime?

Yeah, but so would have superboy. So in his old age, because he was only half kryptonian, superboy might not have become as strong or fast. But he also had some different powers from clark which would have delevoped and added a whole nother layer of uber powerful if he'd been allowed to grow old. Plus he would have had training from superman and and the justice league growing up which superman never had. Who knows how much more experienced he could have become or what other powers he could have developed.

I'm just saying... From DC 1 million, its pretty obvious the superman line just keeps going and going, each generation seemingly getting a bit more powerful.

lol, he would have been stronger when he first initially started out. seriously you should try to find some info on superboy and Black Zero. Black Zero was a great deal stronger than even the current superman, no less superman back when Black Zero appeared.

and yes, superman gets stronger and stronger by the day...but so does any other hero due to training. how else do you expect anyone else to keep up? ;) plus it seems like while he gets more and more powerful by default, others around him seem to grow along with him. notice how the gaps in powers have really changed between supes and the rest of the field.

I am an old school comic reader. While I think most of the post Crisis changes were worth it, the disappearance of Superboy and Supergirl and the subsequent destruction of the Legion of Superheroes was almost not worth it.

Some of my most prized comics are some old beat down issues of Adventure Comics and Superboy/Superboy and the LoSH/LoSH.

I am not a big fan of Connor at least as he was originally conceived and this whole Lex Luthor thing was PIS IMO but at the end he lived up to the name Superboy and died a heroes death

Assuming the decision stands up in appeals (and from my very limited knowledge of copyright, it probably will) then Superboy could easily come back. But DC would have to be willing to pay for it. The question is, how likely is that?

I would love a better Superman blue action figure, (I have the 9inch toy), he was a great visual, and maybe there should be a villain with this look, sorta what they did with the cyborg or with venom... because in my opinion.. the best part was the visual.. i even have the electric supes shield tshirt... it's awesome!!!

you are not alone my friend. i got 3 superman blue posters on the wall as week along with the electric s-shield shirt. Even got a signed copy of Blue's first issue. let's just say that i a Blue-aholic. Everything about him was great except for the name IMO. He just didnt fit the title "Superman"
