Any theories on how the speed force could/will be brought back in to the picture?

was it ever explained as to how it went away?

Something happened to it when the Flashes dragged SBP into it. Other than that, no explanation..

I'm sure it'll be addressed in the new Flash: The Fastest Man Alive series.

I hope to god, it is gone forever.... When I returned to comics I thought, "this Speedforce thing is total crap and ruins the previous history of the Flash..."

There was no Speedforce until the retcon...
I loved vol I of the Flash. Barry Allen never needed the Speedforce to accomplish amazing things ...until the retcon...

I am glad it is gone.
It makes the flash seem less foolish.
Anytimne he is in trouble reader had to ask themselves why he did not speed steal.

Am I the only person who though the speedforce concept was cool? One of my big reasons for missing it now is that Jay tops out at the speed of sound. Will the new Flash be able to top that? Or speed of light? Would he be able to do what Barry did back in COIE, or is that too fast now?

Whatever DC characters that are depowered will slowly become more and more powerful over time. It's just the way it is.

I liked the idea of the speed force....I mean..he's the Flash..supposedly the fastest man alive..
but if without the speed force he can't outrun superman..then i think they should bring it back..or greatly slow supes down on earth (which they won't)...it really makes no sense to me that you'd have Flash in the same roster as Superman if Supes is faster..its like having Cyclops on the JLA roster..kinda redundant...there's already a sunlight absorbing, eye beam shooting player there...
I mean I would definitely not be opposed to it, IF, they would write Flash a lil smarter...I mean, he does have the capability to be the smartest guy on the planet..(super speed reading, retention, could cram a year's worth of training into 10 minutes) .i hate the fact that he jobs to pieces of flying debris..and basically someone's outstretched leg tripping him...makes no sense...'I can run around the world twice in 10 seconds, but a baseline human who throws a boomerang can tag me'

I really want Flash to be faster than Supes as well, without a depowering of Supes. Isn't Bart the first speedster who could read at superspeed and retain what he learned?
I just think it would be cool to explore Bart. Guy was the resident "goof-off" and slacker and now he is an adult, or at least older than his former comrades, could be fun to explore.

I guess I'm in the minority as well in thinking the speed force is a pretty neat plot device.

That I can understand, and the concept is a bit convoluted and could be altered from writer to writer I suppose. I just think tapping out at the speed of sound, so what? We know SUpes is faster, heck even that hack Quicksilver can pull that. I want Flash at least at lightspeed, and I think an explanation more than a metagene is needed to reach those speeds.

You're not the only person at all, Jon -- I loved the concept. I don't understand at all how it hurt the Flash's story.

Could be written well?
Yeah, ya know, when johns and waid were writting him it was boring with a personalityless wally with a nonexistent supprorting cast and even less interesting villains... (sarcasm btw)

There have always been members of the jla less powerful than superman. And they've always been able to contribute even when superman is on the team. Its been proven time and time again that he can't do everything by himself and somebody running almost as fast as him can only help the team. Wonder woman is less strong than him, martian manhunter is weakened by fire, canary and bats are human. I guess in your mind it means none of them should be there.
Flash can't retain everything he reads at super speed, barts been the only one who can. Its one of the limits needed for any character to remain relatable. And it just shows what little you know about the flash that he "jobs" to debris. One, hes normally saving civillians and is forced to slow down and get hit so that he doesnt squash people. Secondly the rouges are a group of efficent enemies with instantaneous methods of transportation and very little morality. He just doesn't get "tagged," hes fighting 4-5 people at once, not killing them by just running at them at the speed of sound which gives them the chance for counter attacks and create hazadous situations. The fact that he's got one of the only groups of villains that consistently work together is one of the most interesting features of his books.

Okay, I see your sarcasm and raise you $300!:D (sarcasm btw) Anyway, yes, what I meant was, the speedforce thing is just a stupid idea. It was okay to have him be realy fast and everthing, but man, words just don't describe how stupid the Speedforce is.

I keep hearing this argument, but please at least try to explain why you think it's stupid. I would be curious to know what specifically about it you dislike.
On an entirely different note, if the Speedforce is where speedsters go to pasture, will Jay eventually end up there? Since his power is metadriven and doesn't rely on the SF, will he be excluded?

I don't think Jay can go fast enough these days to enter the Speedforce if it still exists. Personally I loved the idea that the Flashes were getting a boost from an outside force, much like the characters who grow get their extra mass from another dimension. Makes it seem more plausible to me.

Agreed. I was wondering, what if they go a whole different route? WHat if it isn't Bart, or Barry, or even Wally, or the twins. What if it really is just some new face to the Flash legacy? Unlikely, and not sure I like that idea, but plausible? Sure.

The Flash concept worked fine for decades and through multiple iterations without the Speedforce. Applied properly his powers made him accomplish some spectacular feats yet still have his faults powerwise.
Based on the things he is now capable of with the Speedforce, I think the whole concept of the character has changed.
As to the Speedforce, why not also the Strengthforce, the Enduranceforce, the Charismaforce, the Intelligenceforce....
What makes speed so distinct that it deserves a separate ominuniversal force designation?
I could live with it, if it was just some special tie to the Source... or if some ancient magical being had endowed it.

Exactly, to me, the speedforce dimenishes the character of the Flash because it basically says the only reason he could do the Uber feats is based on an outside force. Besides, if the Speedforce makes it so that Flash fans can argue that he'd beat Superman or Thor level beings, PLEASE!! And you ask me why I think the Speedforce is stupid?

Ok, thanks for explaining. Personally I look at the Speedforce endowing superspeed as similar to Captain Marvel and Wonder Girl getting their powers from the gods/magic.
But to each their own. Personally I've never been keen on the Cosmic Treadmill.

Yeah cosmic treadmill is kind of dumb.
