I'm planning on getting the entire series one way or the other. I normally say 4-5 bad issues with no hope of improvement before I drop a book. Its a rule thats worked pretty well and led to ultimate spiderman, ult. xmen, and jsa, and the classified books being left off my pull list.

If you don't think it's going to get interesting, well then I guess you should drop it after one more. To me this is like my favorite serialized tv shows. The action starts of slow with the best part of the comics being great character portaryals while mysteries and left open plot lines are written. I hope its a series that kind of builds up to an end of one storyline every 4 issues or so.

What I mean is that...well so far there are several plot lines. Steel and his daughter(or is it niece?), black adams kingdom, dibneys mystery, what the question is doing, renees demon battles, booster gold being screwed by skeets, superboys cult, and the possibility of more red tornadoes.

I hope that a pattern starts to develop of having a beginning, middle, and climax of 3 different main plot lines in each book. So if the suberboy cult thing is finished in issue 6, in the same issue dibneys mystery deepends, and steel gets a new problem. Dragging allllll those plot lines out could make this book very messy if each one is just given a few pages for months on end.

I've read that some people would have liked this to be more like a seven soldiers series, each week focusing on each character. That wouldn't have been a bad way to do it, but it also wouldn't have been quite as different.

My usual rule of thumb is three strikes and you are out. I love 52 though and am staying on board for the long haul. However, if it is not your thing, I would say stick with the three strikes you are out rule. I do count foul balls. So if say third issue has a bit of promise, then they stay alive for another pitch. Example for me, Nightwing OYL three swings and misses at bad pitches, done. BOP fouled off the first two, issue three interested me enough to give it life for another issue.
