In a couple two or three months, Wildstorm is publishing a Nightmare on Elm Street series written by Chuck Dixon. Did DC purchase the comic rights to this property from Avatar or is this the type of property that can have the rights distributed to multiple companies? Or, if not, does that mean that Avatar won't be publishing stories with this character anymore?

As far as I know, several well selling licensed horror properties - Nightmare, Texas Chainsaw, Friday the 13th - have switched from Avatar to Wildstorm. Avatar will no longer be selling them or using these licenses.

Basically, New Line Cinema switched their horror licenses from Avatar to Wildstorm. Nobody's saying how it happened, though, although as someone pointed out to me, both New Line and DC Comics have the same parent company, Time/Warner, so that may have something to do with it.

Does this mean that publication of titles like Escape of the Living Dead, Night of the Living Dead, and even Lady Death(even though she's not a horror movie franchise) will also be moving to Wildstorm as well?

None of those are New Line Cinema. Those franchises are all part of the deals with the individual copyright holders.

Thanks for the info Blake. It would be an interesting thing though if the Lady Death character could go to Wildstorm or even Vertigo. It would also be nice if the other Chaos! characters could make that move so they could all be in the same stable again and bring in Brian Pulido to finish the Chaos War story that was getting ready to begin right before Chaos! went under. Devil's Due isn't doing a thing with Evil Ernie, Purgatori, or any of the other characters. There hasn't been a solicitation in months. And where the hell is Brewer, the guy who used to draw Evil back in the day?
