So, what did everyone think of this?
Wasn't it totally awesome?

Now, I haven't read anything Wildstorm before, so anything anyone can point out that I should read to help me understand The Boys better?

I think The Boys is setting its own continuity. Besides which, the Wildstorm Universe is rebooting this month and the next. I don't think you'll have much of a problem in understanding it.

Eh, the issue was typical Ennis. I may stick around on it or I may not, I haven't decided yet. It's no substitute for Stormwatch: Team Achilles, though, that's for sure.

What is, though?

I'm still looking forward to reading this, if only for Darick's art ...

I couldn't help but make the comparison. They tread in very similar territory, though this one definately has an Ennis slant.

Darick's art was great on this (which is one of the reasons I may stick around on it). You can tell how much time and detail he put into it, particularly in the opening pages.

I absolutly loved this book. It just oozed coolness and was something very different.

Somewhere I read that Ennis and Robertson have a 60 issue arc planned for this! Perhaps they could interrupt the arc with a one shot called Civil War:Vengeance, in which every one who is supposed to be "acting out of character" gets what they deserve. I saw what Ennis did to Wolverine in Punisher, and I'd like to nominate Tony Stark first and Reed Richards second for attitude adjustment by the Boys. Issue 2 contains a scene I beleive I am not old enough to read, but appears to be E&R's parody of the Avenegers.

Now I have no doubt that some pro-reg types have nominees for this treatment.....

That just sounds like an extended version of Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe. Not that I probably wouldn't end up buying it... :D

The first issue was pretty bland to me, but somehow they've sold me on these last couple. It's like a popcorn flick...

I'll have to get hold of Punisher Kills the Universe. Sounds like fun!

It's just that people have gotten very passionate about CW.......

I read this today on newsarama. I agree this is probably due to the inopportune appearance of the hamster. Hopefully some other publisher can pick this up.

Well that's disappointing news. I was really starting to enjoy things (hamster included -- I think I heard the Ballad of Lemmiwinks in the background).

I love to see them picked up by someone else.

Cancelled? Was it selling that badly or was there some kind of backlash? I've seen worse things in comics before than what I've seen here and worse from Ennis.

The rumor is that DC had cold feet somewhere in editorial or corporate. But DC has apparently been good about restoring the rights to the comic to Ennis and Robertson. And Ennis has stated that they're already in talks with other publishers.

Over on the newsarama boards, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth around two themes, one that the hamster was too much, and the other that it was such a dis on superheros DC couldn't take it.

Everyone knows Ennis despises superheros, so I don't know why that was such a surprise. I also thought it really was much more aimed at the Avengers, two guys in the group looked like Cap and Hank Pym, and the woman who drank reminded me of Scarlet Witch with the headdress. I thought the last issue was kind of Ennis' response to CW, which I was interested to see.

I understand they will start it back up in August! That's something to look forward to -- although by that time we ought to be right in the middle of World War Hulk.
