Somehow with all the stuff that was announced at the NY con last month, this totally escaped most people's notice. Chris Carter let it slip that Wildstorm comics has got the license to do new X-Files comics. I remember how huge the X-Files comic from Topps was back in the day. Of course, that was at the height of the show's popularity, not to mention the speculator boom. I doubt any new series will share the same high profile. Still, although the books haven't always sold that well, I've been really impressed with Wildstorm's licensed comics (Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Lost Boys, World of Warcraft, etc.) I feel confidant they'll do a good job.

Who's the creative team on this? Has it been announced?

Not yet, no. I'm curious too.

I'm definitely going to be picking this up. Looks like they also picked up the licenses for Gears of War and Prototype, too.

Yeah, they got a bunch of licenses recently. Wildstorm does a pretty good job with their licensed properties. I actually can't wait for the Chuck miniseries. :D

Just to be clear, X-Files is just coming the Wildstorm company, and not becoming part of the actual Wildstorm universe, correct? That would be a continuity headache.

Right. It's just a licensed product, like Marvel's deal to put out Halo or Devil's Due's deal for G.I. Joe or IDW's Star Trek.

It certainly wouldn't work in the main WS universe, imo. I'm pretty certain that it's going to be a separate universe.

Ok, thanks for the info. Just wanted to make sure....

Probably not and that's what I was thinking, but better to check. I do hear that they are doing a "earth-changing" event soon to the Wildstorm Earth, so there was a small outside chance that it could have happened.

Yeah. It's what Revelations, Number of The Beast and Armageddon have all been building up, too.

Yeah, I haven't been collecting them, but I do hope an new ongoing Authority series comes out of it.

Me too. The Authority was always my favourite WS title.

Same here. But getting somewhat back on topic, its good to see a company like Wildstorm get a product like X-Files. Things tend to work better when licensed properties are spread amoung several companies, instead of having one company sitting on all the big ones. Companies like Wildstorm and Dynamite Entertainment having been doing very well for themselves lately, and gaining ground in the competitive comics market.

Looks like they're gonna start with a 40-page zero issue for this one. From the solicits:
