NEWS: JMS PLOTS THOR FINALÉ

Comixtreme has learned that J. Michael Straczynski's run on Thor will be coming to an end this September. Tomorrow's Marvel solicitations (which was missing a few key books when it hit the interwebs a week ago) features a listing for Thor: Defining Moments Giant-Size #1, which is being touted as the scribe's big finalé.

Thoughts? Hopes? Dreams? Post them below.

I almost wish that the character would be retired when JMS is done.

Oeming gave the character one of the best endings EVER, it was just so brilliantly written that if there had never been another Thor story, I would have been fine with it.

JMS found a way to bring the character back, and yet make it seem right, make it seem like more than just the same old same old. He made it seem like Thor had finally forged a new path for his people, similar and familiar, but still a new path, and it pains me to know that he's ending his run soon. As long as it's the way he WANTS to end his run, and not what JQ wants, as it didn't really work out that well with One More Day, as it ended up being JMS's last storyline, although in all seriousness it was JQ's baby to begin with.

JMS really brought a new life to the character, the issues were full of deep though, and introspection, and the action was used sparingly but in such a way that it really felt important when it was used. I was skeptical when I saw Coipel's original Thor artwork, but as time wore on, and he put forth such incredible work with JMS scripting... they're such a definitive team, despite a short collaboration period.

So I wish that JMS could end it, and it would actually be over, for at least a little while, and not just a month.

if a good team take over this is good news. JMS can go over to DC and publish all their books horribly slow. I'll miss Coipel for sure though....i loved "the Twelve" but JMS is stretched too thin. though i don't blame him for doing Hollywood work, he's a great writer.

Thor's a weird book for me. Its almost blows me away everytime I read it, but I soon forget the book exists. Its basically bi-monthly, but I'm okay with that continuing as long as the art team is worth it, someone McNiven level A-list (the guy who drew that picture Schatz posted, actually).......

Love the book, but the Delays plus the lack of feel that the MU as a whole effect it, were a detriment.

Me thinks there's going to be a huge last-stand-of-the-Dark-Reign taking place in Asgard late this year - when Captain America Reborn wraps.

Man, we barely get 2 years out of his run. I hope he brings his story lines to a good conclusion. Since Loki is playing such a large role with Dark Reign.

I bought the first trade to JMS's Thor and thought it was awesome. I have been holding off buying another in hopes for an omnibus to come out of JMS's run, and since he is almost done, I am betting there is a good chance I will be getting one. (Marvel's omnibus' have been awesome, great quality, especially the sewn binding, which is tops). Thor was brought back in an awesome way even after an awesome ending.
