Meanwhile, as Adam Strange and the Hawks try to stop an alliance between the Thanagarians and the Tamaranean leader, Blackfire, Green Lantern Kyle Rayner tries to uncover the secret behind the Seven Devils Society. There is a lot going on in this book and I do mean a lot. We go from planet to planet seeing all the characters miniature adventures that give us a broad scope of the war and how it’s effecting them. Dave Gibbons does an excellent job conveying this. Despite all the characters and everything going on this is book does not come off cluttered at all. In truth it shows for a very exciting story full of characterzation and action. Ivan Reis just shines this entire issue. If it’s from the exploration by Kyle Rayner to these cool planets to the various sects that are at war with each other, he doesn’t miss a beat, and that has to be one of the most threatening versions of Blackfire I have ever seen. You get her hierarchy and power all in just a few frames. I’m a big sucker for space operas like this and this is like the DC version of Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings. Filled with heroes and villains on both sides and a much larger scope starting to come into focus about who gains to win and lose in this war. This is my favorite one of the four minis at the moment. And the funny part about it is I'm not a fan of Hawkman, Hawkgirl or Adam Strange.

To me, this issue read like the beginning of a series of spin-off stories. None of them seemed very satisfying. It seems like the conflict has advanced, but I didn't get a clear picture of where we were in the grand scheme of things.
Not to mention the supernatural antagonist seems COMPLETELY derivative of the threat in the Adam Strange mini-series. Right down to his being defeated by either the JLA or JSA and being thought dead. If you're going to do a continuation series... get an original villain. The few things I did enjoy dealt with Kyle and his interrogation... Tigorr's interactions with StarMan (because they reminded me of the pulpy-fun that was the first 5 issues of Adam Strange) and... that's about it. |

Like Days of Vengeance, this title gets better with each issue. Even though it might get overwhelming for some people, I enjoyed all of the interstellar politics and alliances that were going on.

Wow, this is unbelievingly catching on me. Like Goku, I never taught i would like this mini. Probably because Kyle is the only person here that I'm really familiar with. I never really like the Hawks and Adam Strange but this is getting quite interesting specially the alliances that was forming because for one moment, I taught earth was the only neighbors they know off

This was a really good issue, I like seing the alliances being put together, in this war, and in the middle you have Kyle trying to stop both sides.
I really would like for this title to become an on going seires, I get to see classic characters I havent seen in years, and every issue is packed with the right blend of action, and dialog. |

I have absolutly no clue who anyone is except kyle and adam strange. And I don't care because 1. its so pretty and 2. its sooo good.
I was gonna ask for some help understanding this issue, but I guess it would count as spoilers, which wouldn't be cool for a review thread. So if anybody wouldn't mind explaining a few things for me, check out the infinite crisis thread.

I am beginning to wonder a bit about the timing of all this. I love all the individual Crisis stories, but, what is their sequence? Hawkman is currently fighting a huge war in space, fighting a slightly smaller war in Khandaq, and dealing with the Batman-mindwipe fallout. A character like Kyle seems to fit perfectly into the mix, while Batman, Hawkman, Wonderwoman, and other characters appearing in multiple books are starting to confuse me just a little. It's yet to detract from the storytelling, it's just induces some temporal vertigo.

So... DC is trying to emulate Marvel's deal with Wolverine?

Best part of this book was when dude said that Green Lanterns weren't prone to making threats...shows how badass Kyle Rayner still is.
