EVERYTHING BUT IMAGINARY #187: CREEPY CRAWLY COMICS
It’s time, friends, for another Everything But Imaginary Global Headquarters Halloween discussion. I love Halloween, and I’ve spent the entire month of October trying to put together as much Halloween content as possible, from special columns to movie and book reviews at my website (Think About It Central), from extra reviews here at Comixtreme to reviews of older comics at my LiveJournal community, The Back Issue Bin. Why, last weekend I even lost my mind to the degree that I spent an entire 48-hour block watching and reviewing all eleven Friday the 13th movies (that’s 48 hours minus time for sleeping, eating and – on rare occasions – emptying the ol’ “Crystal Lake”), six of which I had never seen before. So there are tons of good comics out there to help you get your scare on, and the only way it could be better is if Gemstone had timed the release of the first Tales From the Crypt Archives for October instead of December. I’m equally certain that you guys will happily inform me of any great horror comics I may have missed. I welcome your suggestions – it’s always great to hear about more good comics. In the meantime, Happy Halloween! Favorite of the Week: October 18, 2006 Blake M. Petit is the author of the superhero comedy novel, Other People's Heroes, the suspense novel The Beginner and the weekly “Think About It” humor column at Think About It Central. His new comic, Evertime, is coming soon from Tightlip Entertainment. E-mail him at Blake@comixtreme.com and visit him on the web at Evertime Realms.

Hey Bubba, you forgot a couple decent Halloweenish books out there, granted they aren't new, but I bet in the discount bins they can be found. #1 is Marvel's The Supernaturals which was adecent enough storyline I would have liked to seen brought back as a special or mini series again. I believe it had potintial. And #2 is Moonstone's Kolchak: The Night Stalker series which is an excellent book for the fans of the cult 70's show starring the late, great Darrian McGavin. Just keep them in mind boys & ghouls.
P.S. Glad to finally join the board and look forward to talking to you all. Chris

Both interesting choices -- I was talking mainly about current books, but good books you can find in the discount bins are always a plus.
And welcome to CX! 'bout time you got over here!

Blake! Wordwood: Gentleman Corpse! (I just reviewed issue 3.) It has lots of dark humor, but it's a horror comic that's really fun and worth a look. And for manga fans, Dark Horse has been releasing all the Hellsing volumes, which is another strange shot of horror madness.

Well, of course. I love horror comics.
(And the more I thought about it, the more it seems like IDW and Dark Horse have the most in the manner of horror comics. Also, they're now splitting a license, aren't they? IDW keeps releasing Angel tie-in comics, but Dark Horse is going to be releasing the "new" Buffy comic. How does that work?)If I can go back a bit, mention older comics, let me know. I may be able to come up with some...

Well, I can't believe I totally spaced on The Goon, which does have some great horror moments among the screwball comedy (especially lately), and all the Cal McDonald series that have been released (except Last Train To Deadsville - that one didn't work). Even the Cal McDonald novels (and one short story collection) are amongst my favorites. You have to love the huge, people eating brain - should have been silly, but managed to be creepy.

No reason it can't be both at the same time.
