2 IN 1 SHOWCASE EPISODE 73: VALIANT COMICS REBORN-UPDATED!

Episode 73: Valiant Comics Reborn
by Chase Bouzigard and Blake Petit

It's the episode Blake and Chase have been hoping to record for over ten years now! (That's right. Even before podcasting existed.) The Valiant Universe -- home of heroes such as Harbinger, X-O Manowar, Archer and Armstrong and Rai and the Future Force -- is slowly making a return with new hardcover editions, and the promise of new comics to come. This week, the guys tell you their favorite Valiant stories, cross their fingers for the return for Magnus: Robot Fighter and Solar: Man of the Atom to the line, and explain how they would resurrect Valiant as a line of ongoing comics. In the picks this week, Blake cheers for the return of Firebreather and Chase is still in love with Green Lantern: Secret Origin. In the next two weeks we're going to talk Wanted and Mark Millar, then an episode focusing on our favorite Webcomics, so e-mail us with your comments, "Ask Chase Anything" questions, or anything else at Showcase@comixtreme.com! And if you've got a Webcomic suggestion, be sure to include the URL!

Episode 73.5: The Incredible Hulk Movie Review

Hey guys first of all my x-23 things I was being sarcastic LOL and thanks for answering and, if I came off as harsh, sorry. The caps and all that were, yeah, meant to come off as anger but I guess I forgot to add an "All kidding aside" because I wasn't REALLY angry

Actually, Millar is gonna be next week.

But don't expect TOO big a blowup, because I really said everything I have to say about the man back in the Ultimate Marvel episode. I don't think I want to go over it all again.

Well wait wait by Sarcastic I meant the caps were done in a sarcastic manner but the words I capitalized weren't. I really do find X-23 to be a great character especially the way she's written and I really do find she has great depth.

One last detail about Dr.Light...technically she never took up the name of the villain, the Monitor gave it to her! Remember that, he said he MADE the new Dr.Light, powers name costume and all

True enough, true enough.

But still, if some cosmic dude showed up, gave me super-powers and told me, "And your name shall be... Charles Manson!" I'm pretty sure my first reaction would be, "Um... are you married to that name?"

LOL yeah fair point to that, but come on it's not THAT fair to nitpick when she was meant to fully replace the guy who became a joke (That enough should be a decent enough reason to take up the name. A guy who was evil who's become obscure leaves his title open and I MORE fit towards that name than he did (she's a doctor AND her powers are internal) so I can take it and make it a hero name!) And let's not forget she didn't go into this being a straight out hero! She could have gone either way but her being somewhat responsible for Supergirl's death (They REALLY should bring that up again don't you think since everyone remembers the crisis now) changed her)

I gotta say, man, the fact that the guy was a joke makes it even LESS logical for her to use his name to me. Even (maybe ESPECIALLY) if she'd gone to the wrong side.

It'd be interesting to see the Supergirl thing brought up again, but I don't think the Kara we have now is exactly the same one who died, so I'm not quite sure how it could all fit together.

That doesn't excuse the fact she was responsible for "A" Supergirls death (That's somethign that still doesn't make sense for me. It was Supergirls death that made Kimiyo a good guy, without it she would have gone Anti-hero or something...and if she doesnt' rememer the crisis (although I think she was one of the few that does since on some occasions she mentioned fighting Anti-matter Gods) how can she have had that change...AHHH one of the confusions of Post Crisis stress syndrom LOL!

ANother thing, again this was the WRITERS decision, not really hers. So I don't think there's really much need to look at it THAT much in detail. Unless you'd like to come up with your own reasons, just accept them as they are

I too, have already said everything I could possibly think of to say on next weeks subject. No need to repeat myself.

I enjoyed this weeks episode though.

Why thank ye, sir.

Are you a Valiant reader at all? Or were you, back in the day?

I used to keep up on everything, but this reminded me of a lot of stuff I had forgotten.

It's sometimes easy to overlook the amount of research you guys must do before recording these episodes.

This was the best an episode could be without you reading another one of my emails.

Well, we get a lot of help from the Official Showcase Research Assistant. (aka Wikipedia.)

Hey blake, your quote from Marvel ZOmbies 2 #5,

This is one of the few sequels that actually surpasses the original.
Was on the Marvel ZOmbies 2 Hardcover! (Doesn't say your name, just that it's from Comixtreme)

Yeah Congrats...it's not everyday someone ends up quoted on the back of a hardcover...but then again I don't think there were many sites that had consistant positive reviews for Marvel Zombies 2 like you did

On a differet note, you hear about Marvel Zombies 3
