X-MEN: FIRST CLASS #13 ADVANCE REVIEW
Review by: Blake M. Petit Blake@comixtreme.com
Quick Rating: Very Good Title: Rise, Robot, rise Rating: A With Angel gone, will the X-Men get a new member? Writer: Jeff Parker Art: Roger Cruz & Colleen Coover Colors: Val Staples Letters: Nate Piekos Editor: Mark Paniccia Cover Art: Roger Cruz Publisher: Marvel Comics Parker is having a good bit of fun here, pulling in an old Avengers and Thor enemy, and taking another character that’s gone through a lot of changes since his original appearance. The guest-star here is actually closer to his current incarnation (at least visually) than his original one, but as he hadn’t actually appeared yet in the Marvel Universe at this point, the whole thing is game for different interpretation. More importantly, it’s a fun story that actually helps to ground these “First Class” X-Men into a larger universe. Roger Cruz has done some really nice artwork here, both with the regular cast, the guest star and the enemies at hand. Colleen Coover, as usual, pops in for a back-up story, but it’s a little different than her usual work. This issue’s back-up brings up a mysterious background character, how he may be linked to other heroes and villains across the Marvel Universe, and raises some interesting questions. As always, this is a fun little romp. It’s easily a great place for old-school fans to get what we’re missing from the current X-Men family.
