X-MEN: LEGACY #214 ADVANCE REVIEW
Review by: Blake M. Petit Blake@comixtreme.com
Quick Rating: Good Rating: A Sinister takes over Xavier’s mind! Writer: Mike Carey Pencils: Scot Eaton & Ken Lashley Inks: Andrew Hennessy & Paul Neary Colors: Frank D’Armata & Edgar Delgado Letters: Cory Petit Editor: Nick Lowe Cover Art: Alan Davis Publisher: Marvel Comics This is a pretty good issue, with lots of action. Gambit and Shaw’s battle in the real world is full of energy, especially as Amanda Mueller gets involved. Of more interest, as is to be expected, is Xavier’s battle with Sinister on the mental plane. Sinister starts throwing all of Xavier’s worst defeats at him, and watching him try to force his way through it works well. The artwork is good here – Eaton’s “real world” scenes contrast well with Lashley’s “mental plane” scenes, and both of them handle the action well. The end of the issue pulls down the score a bit. The big revelation is… well… “cheesy” is the only word for it. But up until that point, it was cruising along well. Not a bad issue. I’ll be curious to see where Carey goes next. Personally, I thought this was the best Legacy so far. Xavier was well written. And I actually liked the cliffhanger. Scot Eaton and Mike Carey are among my favourite creators.
