WOLVERINE: FIRST CLASS #5 ADVANCE REVIEW
Review by: Blake M. Petit Blake@comixtreme.com
Quick Rating: Good Title: Citadel Rating: A Wolverine recalls his first mission with Alpha Flight. Writer: Fred Van Lente Art: Clayton Henry Colors: Chris Sotomayor Letters: Simon Bowland Editor: Mark Paniccia Cover Art: Espin & Guru EFX Publisher: Marvel Comics Although this issue is light on Kitty, it still works pretty well. It’s a pretty straightforward story, Wolverine and the other Alpha Flighters fighting someone with a beef against the Canadian government. Van Lente also manages to work in a little social studies education in the form of a joke or two, and he gives the ending of the issue a real emotional punch. Clayton Henry’s art is great – he has a nice, clean, old-school style and does a good job with all of the characters. Sotomayor’s colors are as beautiful as ever, and the cover is a nice way to wrap everything together in a neat little package. While this is sort of an atypical issue for this series, it still fits in with the ideal behind the book very well. There have been better issues, but this one isn’t bad at all.
