Cover Art: Jim Lee & Scott Williams
Publisher: DC Comics

With the Crime Syndicate defeated, their world falls into chaos. The people rise up against heroes and villains alike, states go to war with one another, chaos reigns – and something odd is happening to Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

There’s a lot of cool stuff in the lead story here – we get glimpses of the rest of the CSA’s world, including the anti-matter counterparts of some familiar characters, and we watch as the rest of the Justice League tries to piece together what’s happening to the Trinity. Busiek handles the team very well, but does so without sacrificing the focus of the title. Even Vixen’s big moment is about the big three.

In the back-up, which continues to get sharper as it links more closely to the main storyline, Hawkman, Nightwing and Robin call in back-up as they try to stop the graverobbers trying to claim the corpse of Maxwell Lord. Tom Derenick and Wayne Faucher do a solid job on the art here, putting together a great fight scene (completed by strong colors from Allen Passalaqua).

Mark Bagley’s art, as always, is fantastic. The splash page, with a war on the streets of Las Vegas, is really awesome-looking, and the energy just doesn’t stop anywhere in the comic, even in a quieter scene.

Another good issue, and I’m really enjoying the direction the story is going.
